OUR STORY
In the fall of 1999, we set out with a group of teenagers seeking to grow in the knowledge of Jesus and to make Him known to others. Many of us come from an evangelical church with a strong emphasis on evangelism. In this context, many of us have understood what it means to know Jesus and be His disciple.
Over the course of 9 years, the group has grown and diversified to include adolescents, students and young families. Within our group, the desire to experience the church in a way as similar as possible to what we read in the New Testament was born and grew. At the same time, we wanted to see as many people as possible who knew and experienced Jesus in a healthy Christian community.
In this context, in the fall of 2008 many of us started planting a new local church. I started with a lot of enthusiasm and confidence in my own strategy. But God humbled us and taught us a series of practical lessons in our early years.
I have learned that God is against the proud, but gives grace to the humble; we have learned that Jesus is the head / head of the church and we are all members of His body called to act in dependence on Him; I understood Jesus' radical call to be his disciples; I learned to depend on God through prayer and the importance of walking with the Holy Spirit.
We began to see the practical implications of people being the church, not the building or the religious service. This made us focus on following Jesus together in the rhythms of life.
Our name, Missio Dei, is a Latin expression meaning "Missionary God" or "Mission of God." We believe that God is the first person to initiate a mission of cosmic proportions.

Our name, Missio Dei, is a Latin phrase meaning “Missionary God” or “Mission of God.” We believe that God is the first person to initiate a mission of cosmic proportions.
He created a perfect world, but because of the sin of Adam and Eve, that perfect world was and continues to be deeply affected. Later, God himself came into this hostile world and “while we were still sinners, Jesus died for us” (Romans 5:8).
God’s plan is that one day His entire creation will be restored (Romans 8:20-25, Revelation 21,22). He is currently saving and restoring people whom He calls into His mission. We chose this name because it reminds us that our story is intertwined with God’s Mission.

OUR IDENTITY
It is based on what He has done for us. It dictates the way we live. What we do stems from who we are. Our new identity has 4 aspects that are simultaneously true.
We are children of God who live and care for one another as a healthy family

From the beginning of God's creation, God wanted a people to reflect Him so that more and more people would understand His Fatherly love for all of creation. Jesus said that all who walk in God's ways are His true family. By trusting in Jesus, in His sacrifice for our sins, and in His resurrection, we are children of God and therefore brothers and sisters to one another.
We learn together to walk in the ways of Jesus and we hold each other accountable for our lives.
We are God's servants helping to meet the needs of others as a way of life

Although God was the creator, Jesus decided
to become human and lived this life

He is the ultimate example of serving with love and sacrifice for the most unworthy people.
For us it is a privilege and
a challenge to follow Jesus,
putting the needs of others above our own.
We are sent by God to restore things
as He wills them

God the Father sent Jesus to earth with the mission to restore all things to a good relationship with the Father.
He was born and lived on earth as man and God, so that people could see and experience what God is like.
In the same way, we are sent by God to show the world what He is like, helping to restore all things to a good relationship with God the Father.
We are followers of Jesus responsible for both our own development and the development of others

Jesus grew both physically and in wisdom and knowledge. He learned from the rabbis, being in the community, but also through His constant time of interaction with the Father. Jesus chose a small group of disciples whom he taught how to walk in His ways.
The same call is addressed to us today. We believe that we are responsible for growing in our holistic development (spiritual, educational, physical, mental, relational, emotional) and for helping others in this process.
